Eric Izydorczyk

Introduction

Eric Izydorczyk is a former occupational therapist who was registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and worked for Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust. In December 2025 an HCPC panel directed his removal from the register in a case that combined concealed criminal convictions, a concealed employment suspension and dishonest answers about his health spanning more than a decade of registrations .

Background Information

Izydorczyk joined the HCPC register in 2009, at which point, on the regulator’s case, he declared an existing criminal conviction — an admission that made his later silence about subsequent convictions material. He remained registered through the 2010s and was working as an occupational therapist for Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust by 2023, when a series of events — his absence from work on ill health, his suspension by the trust, and a court case — converged into the fitness-to-practise allegation .

The Controversy or Incident That Led to Their Cancellation

Struck off in his absence. An HCPC panel proceeded without him on 4 December 2025 and directed that his name be struck from the register.

The oldest allegation concerned a renewal from 2011. Having declared a conviction when he applied to join the register in 2009, and having been convicted again in 2010, he is alleged to have failed to declare that further conviction when renewing his registration on 16 September 2011 — and to have acted dishonestly in knowingly providing false information to the HCPC .

The recent allegations clustered in 2023. On 7 August 2023, applying to renew his registration, he answered “No” to the question of whether there was any change related to health, although the HCPC’s case was that he had been absent from work because of ill health since May 2023 and knew it. On 5 December 2023 Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust suspended him from employment; he is alleged to have failed to inform the regulator of the suspension as soon as possible, dishonestly, despite knowing of his duty to report it .

The same month a court intervened. On 6 December 2023, at Brighton Magistrates’ Court, he was convicted of threats to kill against Person A and of assault by beating against Person A. The allegation states he then failed to inform the HCPC of those convictions as soon as possible — and that his silence was dishonest, because he knew he was under a duty to report them. A further particular alleged that he had a physical and/or mental health condition relevant to his fitness to practise .

Public Reaction and Consequences

The final hearing took place on 4 December 2025. Izydorczyk did not attend and was not represented; the panel, satisfied he had been properly served with at least 28 days’ notice, proceeded in his absence in the public interest. It directed that his name be struck from the register, the most severe sanction available, and dealt with the interim period necessary while any appeal window ran .

Current Status

Izydorczyk’s name was removed from the HCPC register with effect from the December 2025 decision. Unless reversed on appeal, the striking-off order ends his ability to practise as an occupational therapist in the UK. The regulator’s public record notes his registration number and the direction for removal, and his case now appears in erasure listings of HCPC decisions . No appeal outcome has been reported.

Impact on Their Career/Life

The case is, at bottom, about a register that only works if registrants tell the truth. A therapist who had once disclosed a conviction chose silence the next time — and then, in 2023, compounded it with a false health answer, a concealed suspension and concealed convictions from a criminal court. Each individual act may have seemed containable; together they persuaded a panel that the register could not safely carry him. For Sussex Partnership and the wider NHS, the case is a reminder that employment consequences — here, a trust suspension — do not stay private when the professional obligation is to tell the regulator .
